Equality and Diversity Policy

Our venue, One Great George Street complies fully with all aspects stipulated in the Equality Act 2010. However, we feel that we provide the following accessibility products, features and services over and beyond what is required by the act.

An example of this being the installation of two separate platform lifts integrated into steps at the main entrance which provide an alternative step free route into the building. There is a call bell located at street level at the right hand side of the main entrance steps connected to our reception desk which alerts staff to the presence of anyone requiring assistance. A member of staff immediately proceeds to the front entrance to operate the platform lifts and offer appropriate help.

These platform lifts bring visitors into the building at ground floor level from where all floors are then accessible by lift. Both our passenger lifts are large enough to accommodate a person using a standard wheelchair (One lift is 0.8M wide x 1m deep and the other 0.7M wide x 1.1m deep ) and a companion. Lifts have audible floor announcements and control buttons within the lift cars and at an accessible height. All internal corridors are wide enough to allow unrestricted access throughout the building.

A lightweight portable ramp is available that enables access to non-permanent stages. A permanent ramp up to the stage in the Telford Theatre has also been installed.

There are two accessible unisex toilets available in the building. One is on Lower Ground One in close proximity to the lift and the other, again near the lift on the First Floor. The toilets are suitable for wheelchair users and are both equipped with an emergency alarm and appropriate fixtures and fittings.

Permanent Induction Loops are fitted in both the Telford and Godfrey Mitchell Theatres and at reception. Two portable Induction Loops are also available for use in other rooms.

Strobe fire alarms for guests who are hearing impaired are installed throughout the venue and assistance dogs are welcome and a bowl of water is offered as routine.

Last but by no means the least, we allocate a dedicated Event Co-ordinator to every event. They are happy to assist all visitors / guests including those requiring appropriate assistance.
