Director General's Office

Director General's Office

About

The Director General's office is ideal for a fine or private dining event complete with a small meeting or reception within the same function room.

It is on the ground floor next to the foyer and reception; it has a private entrance from the President’s staircase. There are impressive high ceilings and it faces the front of the building, overlooking HM Treasury. Large windows provide an abundance of natural daylight.

There is a large solid teak table which can comfortably seat 12; an alternative table can be set up to seat a maximum of 16. There is space to have a seating area complete with a suite of brown leather chesterfield settees and chairs. The room, decorated in rich greens, creams and browns exudes understated luxury with a neoclassical Edwardian theme; it is available for evening hire and subject to availability.

The room is the working office of the Director General to the Institution of the Civil Engineers. The space has a number of fine paintings and ornaments that have their own history and story to tell. One such example reminding of the global influence the Institution of Civil Engineers has around the world is a painting of the Mangla Dam lying across the Jhekum River in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. Another is of the more local King George V Dock in East London.
