Lower Ground One

Tredgold Room

About the Tredgold Room

Styled in a modern, minimalist theme the Tredgold Room on the lower ground floor is a long room with windows at one end letting in natural daylight. It is ideal for a decent-sized board meeting for up to 24 people with enough space for a working business or buffet lunch.

The room interconnects directly with the President’s Dining Room, a charming place for a post meeting lunch or dinner. Its location, adjacent to the Rennie, Palmer and Godfrey Mitchell Theatre makes it an ideal syndicate room.

The room is named after Thomas Tredgold who was the 47th member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He is mainly known for the academic and written works on applying engineering principles and understanding to the science. He was nearly the first live-in secretary, (now director general) the building previously had a flat on its third floor long since converted into offices. Unfortunately Thomas suffered from ill health and subsequently died before being able to take up the opportunity.
